Overwhelmed by newly launching social platforms almost daily? I know I am. But let’s all keep things in perspective. Start-ups of social platform alternatives are trending because their eyes are on prizes like venture funding, multi-million dollar exits and being the next Facebook or Instagram.
Amid all the social noise as a business or marketing professional we must remain focused. The questions we must ask ourselves for business success remain the same…. in terms of our products, services and social relevance. Am I relevant to my audience? Who is the audience?
Do we understand our target? Do we understand the psychographics what do they want, what are they trying to do and why THEY are using the social platforms that they are? Remember with social media, just like everything else, when it comes to where you need to be as a business there is no “one size fits all” if you try to do exactly whatever someone else is doing, if you trying to jump on all the latest things — it is not going to work.
Maintain your brand personality as relates to your audience; maintain relevance to your audience. And maintain your focus and efforts on the social platforms that are relevant to your audience in relationship to your brand. Really really stick to and dig into ONE platform and be there– be timely and be relevant and watch where your customers are. You have to be GOOD at the ONE social platform that is most relevant to YOUR audience. The rest is noise- block it out.
